Justin Turnbull started off with a small propane grill and a love of cooking for his family and friends. His initial signature dishes were grilled chicken and a mean ribeye steak! Eventually, he started smoking meat. First he bought a little egg smoker, but now makes his own drum smokers!

In 2021, on a whim, he decided to enter into a local amateur barbeque competition and that was it, he had caught the KCBS bug! He competed through 2022 KCBS season in the master division and received several calls and awards across the board! “Bull-B-Que” finished 1st in chicken, 6th overall in the foothills division at the end of the 2022 season!

It is now a family affair, with his wife Amanda serving as his media director and his teenaged children, Rider, Clayton and Jolyn as assistant pitmasters.

In 2023, Clayton and Jolyn entered the amateur barbeque scene for themselves, teaming up to compete as “Aren’t You a Little Young to Barbeque.” In their debut competition they raked 13th in their ribs, beating out over half of the other teams (all of whom were adults!)

The Turnbulls reside in northern Colorado with their golden retriever.
